Voices of Queer Kentucky: An Afternoon with Missy Spears
About this event
Join Kenton Library Archives for an engaging and inspiring evening with Missy Spears, executive director of Queer Kentucky. Explore the power of storytelling, advocacy and community in shaping LGBTQ+ life across the region. As a leading voice in queer media and activism, Spears has helped amplify the stories of LGBTQ+ Kentuckians — preserving history, elevating underrepresented voices and building a more visible and connected community. Through Queer Kentucky, she has created a platform that celebrates identity while confronting the challenges still facing queer individuals today. In this special conversation, Spears will share insights into her work, the evolution of queer media in the region and the importance of documenting and honoring LGBTQ+ experiences, past and present. The program will also include time for audience questions and discussion. Whether you're interested in LGBTQ+ history, media, activism or community building, this is a unique opportunity to hear from one of the region's most impactful leaders. Starting: 3:00 PM
