Accuracy
Local information changes constantly. Maintenance is the work.
A bar adds a Sunday brunch. A venue moves. A weekly trivia night switches from Thursday to Wednesday. Accuracy in a local discovery system isn’t a one-time setup — it’s ongoing maintenance.
Our principle
Verified owner participation is load-bearing.
The most accurate source of truth about a venue is almost always the operator who runs it. That’s why claiming or adding a venue is free, why Verified venues get direct edit access, and why most of our accuracy work is oriented around making it easy for the right person to correct the right thing.
How accuracy happens
Four maintenance channels.
Verified owner edits
A claimed and verified venue can be edited directly by its operator — address, hours, amenities, website, socials, recurring events, photos. No support ticket. No waiting.
Public corrections
Anyone who notices something wrong can submit a correction without claiming. Corrections are reviewed and either applied or routed to the venue owner depending on what they touch.
Recurring confirmation
Weekly programming benefits from explicit owner confirmation, so 'Trivia every Wednesday at 7pm' stays accurate week after week instead of drifting into stale information.
Closure handling
Closed venues are marked clearly rather than silently disappearing. Operators can mark a venue closed via their dashboard; community closure reports route to review.
Honest about what accuracy means here
What we can — and can’t — promise.
We can give venue owners direct control, route public corrections to the right place, treat recurring programming as a first-class data type, and clearly mark venues that have closed. We can’t guarantee every event detail is perfectly current at every moment — local information is genuinely volatile. We can promise we try to get it right and make it easy for the right people to correct it when it isn’t.
Why this matters beyond your venue
Accuracy is what makes a venue legible.
The systems that increasingly mediate local discovery — major search and answer engines, conversational AI, maps, and voice assistants — reward clean, structured, maintained venue data. Accuracy isn’t just about avoiding frustration when someone shows up to a closed venue. It’s about being legible to every system that helps people find places worth showing up to.
See something that needs fixing?
If it’s your venue, claiming or adding it gives you direct edit access. If it isn’t, you can still submit a correction.
