UC ASSISTS Training for Faculty & Staff; Thursday, August 13, 2026
About this event
UC's Awareness, Screening, Support, and Intervention Skills Training for Students (ASSISTS) prepares and empowers individuals to respond to a person in mental distress and refer them to appropriate professional resources. This is an 8 hour online live training with 2 hours of individual, asynchronous pre-work to be completed online before the training date. Participants who complete the training will be certified in Mental Health First Aid for Higher Education and will be equipped with foundational SBIRT and de-escalation skills and resources. To sign up, please complete the RSVP form. After completing the RSVP form, you will receive a pre-test survey for program evaluation/research purposes. Within a week after you complete the survey, you will be added to the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Connect portal. Our coordinator will then add you to the appropriate online course where you can complete your pre-work prior to your training date. The Mental Health First Aid course is valued at $170. Thanks to a generous grant from the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), learners may attend at no charge.
